Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimens perennial, Ch / H mesic to xeric halophile species continental Palearctic Puccinelio-Salicornietea, Puccinelietalia, Festucion pseudovinae, Armerion maritimae R15 habitats one of the most common saline grassland species in Romania and central Eurasia, this species has a distinct subspecies in the westernost part of its range, from western Romania to eastern Austria, ssp. patens (Neil.)
